Adoptee co-production group updates

Our Adoptee Co-production group has been working together for over a year initially creating the Care Pathway which displays what we offer for adoptees aged 13-years-old onwards here at Adoption East Midlands. The Care Pathway is a great visual resource, demonstrating our seamless service offer for adopted young people emerging into adulthood. Watch this space, the Care Pathway will be uploaded on the Hub in the near future.
The group are currently working on the Adoptee Handbook for young adoptees. The Adoptee Handbook will feature various topics such as applying for a job and provide practical advice on how being adopted may impact them throughout different periods of their lives. This is currently a work in progress. Another handy resource that has been produced is a list of books, films and other media items that relate to adoption, which adoptees may find helpful.
As a result of working alongside adoptees, we have gained their understanding and wishes, the adoptees from the group have asked us to use the term adoptees or adult adoptees instead of the term adopted adults.
We are currently aiming to create a support group for adoptees over the age of 25 with the assistance of Adoption UK who are creating a survey, which we will distribute to adoptees accessing their records to help us understand their support needs.
One adoptee member of the group recently shared: "It has been a privilege and a humbling experience. Looking forward to continuing working with you all in the new year".
